The Society of Antiquaries of Scotland has published their Proceedings since 1855, presenting over 170 years of archaeological research. This is our pre-eminent national journal which includes the South West region within the scope of their publication, leading to many papers from our region. All volumes up to the present are available although the most recent are restricted to Fellows:

The Glasgow Archaeology Society has published their transations or journal continuously since 1859. They are a national journal with a strong west coast strand in their publication, leading to many papers from our region. All volumes up to 2019 are available on JSTOR which requires library access:

The Ayrshire Archaeological & Natural History has published since 1878. During the 19th century papers were published in Collections, after a hiatus the Collections resumed in 1947 concluding in 1976. Monogaphs were published in parallel (mainly the papers in the Collections) and this format has continued to the present day. As a regional society the archaeology monographs are almost wholly focused on our region. Some of the Collections and Monographs are available on the Society website on Open Access:

The Dumfries and Galloway Natural History and Antiquarian Society has published their journal continuously since 1863. As a regional society the archaeology papers within this run are almost wholly focused on our region.
