We are celebrating the launch of the Outer Hebrides and Shetland chapters of Scotland’s Islands Research Framework for Archaeology at a hybrid event on the 30th October in South Uist.
Guests will hear short talks from the project team and archaeologists who have undertaken research into the islands’ rich past. Attendees at home and in person will also get a chance to ask questions and find out about the future of SIRFA.
We’ll be streaming live via Zoom from Cnoc Soilleir, Daliburgh, at 2-5pm. If you’re able to join us in person, you’ll also be invited to stay for a reception at Cnoc Soilleir where a buffet will be provided.

About SIRFA
The SIRFA team have been developing a framework to encompass the Outer Hebrides, Shetland and Orkney, all set within a broader, island-wide archaeological research framework for Scotland. The project was coordinated by the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) and Islands Archaeology Institute staff at Lews Castle College, UHI. SIRFA was supported by the Local Authority archaeologists at the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (CnES), Shetland Amenity Trust and Orkney Islands Council.
