8.6 Conflict

Evidence for conflict during the early medieval period in South East Scotland comes from both direct and indirect evidence. While finds of weapons can be thought of as evidence for conflict, the most definitive proof can be found in the examination of human remains. In addition, written sources mention several battles that took place in the study region during the early medieval period.

8.6.1 Weapons and equipment

8.6.2 Textual sources relating to battles

8.6.3 Osteological evidence for violence
