7.6 Religion and Ritual

The last decades have seen a marked increase in data that allows for the assessment of Iron Age beliefs, including in the Highlands. At long last archaeologists have started to obtain dated burial evidence, though it still remains sparse. High Pasture Cave on Skye has transformed the perception of ritual centres. The line between domestic and ritual is frequently blurred, especially when ordinary objects are treated in a special manner.
